WFR, 5 Day Format
This specialized format is ideal for those who need a shorter on-site time commitment, &/or those who have held similar levels of training in the past. This format requires extensive Pre-Course work that must be completed prior to your arrival at the course- there is also a Pre-Course Exam that requires completion before your arrival. WAFA to WFR ‘Bridge’ Course (36 hours, 4 Days)
WAFA graduates looking to upgrade to a higher level of training. Prerequisites include: Your WAFA certification must be from Wilderness Medical Associates, and be current at the start of this course. Completion of an extensive Pre-Course Study Guide (included in the course tuition), which is due on the morning of the first day of the course. The Bridge course can be used to recertify existing WMA WFR or WEMT certifications. See the Fact Sheet and Course Syllabus and Recertification Answer Sheet for more information.

Open Recertification (‘Challenge’) Course (27 hours, 3 Days)
Intended for: Those looking to recertify an existing WFR or WEMT certification. Professional level CPR Certification is included in this course.Prerequisites include: Certification must be 64 continual hours in wilderness-based medical training, within three years of the Challenge Course. Completion of an extensive pre-course study packet (included in the course tuition), which is due on the morning of the first day of the course. Wilderness EMT ‘Upgrade’ (WEMT) course (45 hours, 5 Days)
Intended for: Those who hold medical certification at the level of EMT or higher. Prerequisites include: Current EMT certification (Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic). PA’s, RN’s, or MD’s may also participate in the course for a WEMT Audit card.
