Experience the freedom and simplicity of backpacking while learning the fundamental skills used to travel confidently in the wilderness. We'll cover equipment selection, wilderness ethics and minimum-impact camping, hiking and packing techniques, mountain health, and more! The itinerary for this course includes equal parts of instruction and travel, and provides a less arduous, fun journey into the backcountry!
We provide the group gear such as tents, cooking equipment, water treatment as well as dinner and breakfast during the course. You will need to provide your own personal equipment, including clothing, backpack, and sleeping bag. (Much of this equipment can be borrowed or rented—we’ll provide you with plenty of suggestions.
