If you have done enough climbing to feel ready to explore the world
of climbing equipment and anchor systems, the Anchor Skills Course is
for you. This one day course begins with a thorough overview of climbing
hardware and software, then provides ample hands-on learning in the art
of ‘placing protection’, including the use of active and
passive gear. Then, under the watchful eyes of your instructors, you
will learn and practice bringing those pieces of protection into a workable
anchor system. This course emphasizes the skills necessary to build top-rope
anchors, and will help create a solid foundation for the development
of more advanced climbing skills- take this valuable step toward becoming
a climber.
As an educationally-oriented program, Wilderness Outings
will provide you with detailed informational handouts covering the
concepts
of protection
placement and anchor systems that will serve you well in the development
of your technical climbing skills.

What to Bring:
Clothing suitable for climbing, daypack, and any climbing equipment that you currently own. ‘Approach’ shoes are helpful, but not required. (A detailed list will be e-mailed to you when you register.) If you plan on camping before or after the course, you will need camping equipment and meals. |
